Hi, I’m Justine. After growing up here in Duneland country, I received my Bachelor’s of Liberal Studies at Indiana University Bloomington. During my undergrad, I spent a semester studying abroad in Copenhagen, Denmark, and then my travels took me to Turkey and all the countries along the Danube River, starting in Bulgaria and ending in Austria. I also studied for two weeks in Germany.
I have my Master’s in Library & Information Science, and graduate certificates in Public and Nonprofit Management. I am new to the area again, so to speak, as I have just returned after spending a decade in California. While along the West Coast, I was a project manager for a public art monument in San Francisco, a pastry chef in Carmel-by-the-sea, and a public librarian branch manager for a quaint little library cabin beneath the redwoods of Big Sur.
I raised my kids in the coastal mountains of Big Sur and Carmel Valley. They are ages 8 and 6. I have spent their early childhood education years as a parent during their enrollments in a forest school and a co-op preschool. I served as a parent worker in the co-op for two years, as a registered volunteer for Carmel Unified School District. All participating parents were trained to use the Tools of the Mind curriculum, which is what the teachers utilized in the classroom. It was beautiful out there, but the beauty of the Dunes is immeasurable. We are glad to now be surrounded by our big, big family here in Indiana.
I am looking forward to growing alongside your children and Miss Elizabeth. They will guide me as they blossom into Spring.
